with a Dutch couple
Plot
A family is invited to spend the weekend in a lonely house in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that there is a dark side to the family that invited them. James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis share the elements of their characters they found most interesting and praised each other when discussing their different approaches to the craft. The story is inspired by the experiences of Christian Tafdrup, the director of the original Danish film Speak No Evil (2022), who became friends while on vacation. in Tuscany with his wife. Although the Dutch were somewhat socially awkward, the two couples got along very well, and upon returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from a Dutch family to come to Holland.

He thought about it briefly, but decided that it would feel weird staying with people he didn’t really know; his story for the film came about when he unleashed his darkest imaginings of what might happen if he accepted (claiming that the original Dutch couple never gave off bad vibes). In this remake, the nationalities of both families were changed to American and British. In the bathroom, when he washes his eye, he has a subconjunctival hemorrhage in his left eye, in the next scene his eyes are completely clear… Ben Dalton: Why are you doing this to us? Paddy: Because you let us!.

His performance blurs the lines between charismatic and charming to unnerving and ominous. The remake of the Danish film of the same name follows in its footsteps for most of the film, but differs in the final act. I believe the original film takes it to a level that makes it different and memorable. The remake tries to get to the lackluster and downright scary moments in the third act that the original created (especially the final scene in the quarry).
However, the remake offers a new twist to the original
A different setting on an English farm that boasts a different type of scenery than the original as well as American family guests. This movie provides some special moments that have the audience squirming (in a good way) at the conversations the couples have. You definitely feel uneasy, especially when you know the nature of the hosts’ intentions. I just feel that the last act was a little too Hollywood, in terms of the family actions and the final conclusion of the film. However, I will say that the remake is enough that its creation is sufficiently supported by the special performance of James and his colleagues.
