Sawyer’s character was originally supposed to be an older, smooth, suit-wearing city slicker from Buffalo, New York. However, when Josh Holloway forgot a line during an audition and then kicked his chair in frustration and swore loudly, the writers liked the edge of Sawyer’s character and decided to write Sawyer as more of a southern, darker drifter. Jin and Sun are married, and their last name is “Kwon,” which becomes a major plot point in the final season.
